A Call to Action
Being proactive to increase business and promote oral healthcare

In a sluggish economy we are faced with two choices: We can whine about the condition of our business, or we can do something positive and proactive. Your professional customers can make the same choice. I need your help to convince them to take positive steps. My hope is that all of us will do something positive to speed our exit from these tough times. Something positive is just what the Dental Trade Alliance is doing.

DTA announced a major public awareness campaign in early July. Our campaign - "Oral Healthcare Can’t WaitTM" is directed to dental professionals and consumers alike. The campaign will encourage all members of the dental team to communicate positive, compelling messages to their patients about the importance of seeking and accepting recommended oral care treatment.

We hope to make the entire dental team a part of our communitywide effort.

Maintaining optimum oral health is important to everyone, despite the state of the economy. Now is the time for the entire oral health care community to communicate this message to dental professionals and consumers alike. The negative effects of postponing oral care treatment are significant, with existing and new research indicating that a person’s overall health can be put at risk. But it doesn’t have to be this way - although we face economic challenges on a global basis, the majority of Americans still have the ability to make continued and comprehensive oral care an integrated part of their lives.

The campaign is taking place in two phases. DTA recently (with pro-bono assistance from the Lanmark Group, a New Jersey based media group) launched a print advertising campaign directed at dentists and dental office professionals. This print campaign coincides with the launch of the Web site: www.oralhealthcarecantwait.com. By visiting the Web site, viewers will see a variety of promotional materials to promote oral healthcare with materials that dentists and their staff can download for their own office promotions. DTA is also taking this campaign on the road with a booth at the ADA Annual Session in October to promote "Oral Healthcare Can’t Wait." The second part of the campaign will be directed at consumers. Consumers will be directed to our patient Web site - www.visityourdentistnow.com

I want every dental representative in the country to join DTA in our "Oral Healthcare Can’t Wait" campaign. Be sure your company and all reps are aware of the promotion.
