Clarification
Regarding the article “Hand it to Hygiene,” which ran in the June 2010 issue of First Impressions, we would like to issue a clarification. In the article it states: “Dental practices are not governed by the same hand hygiene guidelines as hospitals, nor do they have dedicated infection prevention specialists.” No governing body, such as OSHA or the Joint Commission, visit the dentist’s office to ensure the staff is adhering to CDC hygiene guidelines, according to experts. And, this makes it all the more important for distributor reps to remind their dental customers of the importance of doing so. Sales reps should visit the CDC website, be aware of the recommended guidelines and educate their customers.

Hu-Friedy introduces implant maintenance care kit
Hu-Friedy introduced an implant maintenance care starter kit featuring implant-safe probes and scalers, as well as protocol for best practices. The Hu-Friedy Total Solution kit features Implacare implant scalers and Colorvue probes with yellow tips and black markings for reading. Unlike resin instruments that contain glass and graphite fillers or traditional metal instruments that can alter or scratch implant abutment and restorative surfaces, Hu-Friedy’s instruments preserve the smoothest implant surfaces.
