New Faces and New Places

Back in the April 2010 issue, we talked about social networks such as Facebook and Twitter, and the digital technologies that impact virtually all of us. At the time we were in the process of moving First Impressions forward with the acquisition of a dental networking site that many of you have visited – DentalSalesPro.com. We are thrilled to announce that the final documents are complete. DSP’s founder and creator, Bill Neumann, will be onboard with us to lead the combination of First Impressions and DSP into new arenas. We believe that we can provide a comprehensive dental offering to both the distribution and manufacturing communities that will enhance how we do business and ultimately assist in growing market share for our readers on the distribution side and our customers on the supplier side.

Dental Sales Pro has been a gathering place for industry people to share ideas, follow trends and discuss topics of interest within the dental community. With nearly 4,000 members from distribution and manufacturing, DSP has become a popular place for the industry to "meet." Our goal is to enhance it by adding our Weekly Drill, an electronic e-mail/newsletter that summarizes what has taken place in the dental world each week. Stay up to date on the latest news in merger and acquisitions, personnel changes, new product introductions and much more. Moving forward, we are also pleased to announce a new column, called "Ask the Expert," by Dr. Anthony Stefanou, who was a practicing dentist for nearly 20 years before moving over to the sales side for several dental manufacturers. "Dr. Tony" offers great insight into why dentists buy, and keys for distributor reps seeking to understand what drives the dentist’s buying behavior. Dr. Tony will be fielding your questions starting this issue!

Additionally, Dr. Tony also will continue his seminars on "How to Sell to Dentists" that he has been hosting in the New York City area. We will be working with him to expand the venues where they are offered so it will be easier for more folks to attend.

Our plan is to continue to strengthen our reach into the dental sales community with new products as well. In 2011, look for an addition of six digital issues of First Impressions that will provide focused insight and content into industry issues. Training and education are two key elements for sales success. We will be expanding our role in these areas as we introduce several online educational opportunities.

The addition of DSP will provide us a great platform to continue to connect our supplier friends with you, their distribution partners. We are truly excited about the possibilities that lie ahead!
