UDD annual meeting rocks Nashville
Nashville, Tenn.-based United Dental Dealers (UDD) hosted its annual meeting, themed, "UDD ROCKS!" in Nashville, Tenn., on Sept. 5-7, 2007, at the Opryland Gaylord Hotel and Resort. The meeting surpassed all prior meeting attendance with 18 distributor member companies and 23 vendors present. The meeting began with a networking event focused on team-building. A highlight included a 32-foot rock-climbing wall. The three fastest climbers were Tony Zaffarese (Marus Dental); Eric Gajeski (Dental City); and Shari Peggs (Dental City). Face-to-Face sessions between distributors and vendor partners occurred during the second day. These rotations gave meaningful time to review sales and build programs to grow business in the upcoming year. The meeting concluded with an Awards Banquet recognizing the key performers during the past year:

Crosstext acquires Strong Dental products
Hauppauge, N.Y.-based Crosstex International announced its acquisition of Strong Dental Products, Inc, the pioneering manufacturer of comfort cushioning and protective devices for X-ray film and digital X-ray sensors. One of the lead products acquired by Crosstex is Edge-Ease®, a soft foam X-ray cushion. In addition, Crosstex will be adding a new portfolio of digital X-ray offerings
(Sensor Slippers®, Wrap-Ease®, BiteWing-Ease, and Slip-Ease), each of which serve to improve patient comfort, protect both the patient and the digital sensors, as well as enhance practitioner ease and efficiency throughout the radiographic process.
"Strong Dental Products not only allow us to expand into the rapidly growing digital radiography marketplace, but they also serve as a perfect complement to our new Patient’s Choice product line," said Andrew Whitehead, VP of Sales and Marketing.
All Strong Dental products will now be available through the Crosstex network of distributors, along with the full line of Crosstex Patient’s Choice products that include TWIST® prophy angles; Sparkle and Sparkle Free Prophy Pastes; Zap Fluoride Gels, Foams and Trays; as well as GumNumb Topical Anesthetics.
Midmark announces dental promotion
Versaille, Ohio-based Midmark Corp. has announced its newest dental promotion for all Midmark authorized dental dealer equipment sales representatives called the "Think Outside the Box" promotion. The promotion kicked off Oct. 1, 2007, offering cash rebates or free product to customers purchasing Midmark M11 or M9 UltraClave® Automatic Sterilizers, and incentives to dealer representatives. Under the terms of this promotion, with the purchase of a Midmark M11 or M9 UltraClave® Automatic Sterilizer, the end-user will receive a $400 rebate check from Midmark or a Midmark M250 Soniclean® Ultrasonic Cleaner with Safety Basket; no sterilizer trade-in required. Plus, with each sterilizer purchase and donation of their old sterilizer to Direct Relief International®, they will receive an additional $200! The "Think Outside the Box" promotion also enables dealer representatives to earn incentives for the sale of the eligible products until Dec. 31, 2007 with delivery taken by Jan. 15, 2008. Sullivan-Schein technicians train at Midmark dental school
Service technicians from Sullivan-Schein spent three days during September at Midmark’s Dental Service School in Versailles, Ohio. The class, one of many conducted throughout the year, included hands-on training for dental chairs, instrument delivery units, sterilizers, lighting, vacuums and compressors. Documark training was also part of the service school. Documark contains technical documentation for Midmark products past and present, including service and parts manuals, installation and operation manuals, color brochures and more. The service school also includes first-class accommodations and meals, and a fun learning environment, including evening activities.
DentalEZ® Group appoints Hayde to sales rep
Malvern, Pa. based DentalEZ® Group appointed Mark Hayde to StarDental® sales representative. In his new position, Hayde will be responsible for the promotion and sales of DentalEZ’s complete line of StarDental® brand products. His territory will include Kansas, Nebraska, Iowa, Missouri, and southern Illinois. Hayde brings over a decade of proven sales strategies and solid customer service skills to his new position. Prior to joining DentalEZ, he was a senior sales representative for Stiefel Laboratories. Hayde currently resides in Lee’s Summit, Mo., and holds a bachelor’s degree in management from Baker University.
