Burkhart Technology holds training sessions on 3M ESPE for Service Technicians
Two groups of Burkhart Technology service technicians attended training for the new LavaTM C.O.S., a Chairside Oral Scanner from 3M ESPE. The training sessions were held on Sept. 30-Oct. 2, 2008; and Nov. 18-20, 2008, both in Lexington, Mass. Technicians were certified in operation, installation, calibration and troubleshooting of the LavaTM C.O.S.

DENTSPLY promotes Clark to president and COO, Mosch to executive VP
York, Pa.-based DENTSPLY International Inc. announced two executive promotions, effective Jan. 1, 2009. Chris Clark will be promoted to president and COO, and James Mosch will be promoted to executive VP. Clark formerly served as executive VP and COO with primary responsibility over all operating units of the company. Since his appointment to this role in January 2007, Clark has successfully developed and implemented strategies that have improved the competitiveness of the company and its diverse global operations. He has been a driving force in leveraging the company’s manufacturing and distribution platforms to improve margins and drive growth above market levels.

Mosch was formerly a senior VP with primary responsibility for the company’s business development and the endodontic franchise. He also has oversight responsibility for Latin America, Canada, and the orthodontic businesses. Since his appointment to senior VP in 2003, Mosch has driven product development, selling and marketing strategies, and maximized the manufacturing platforms of the respective businesses. Mosch assumed the additional responsibility of business development in 2007 and has been a driving force in leading the company’s acquisition strategy resulting in 10 acquisitions over the past two years.

Endo-Mail message board offers dentists free online education
The new online community endomailmessageboard.com - an interactive online forum focused on excellence in dental education - has recently enhanced its online features by offering dentists free continuing education credits to its valued members. Dentists will be able to print their certificates immediately with a passing grade of 70 percent, and the entire test history will be stored for their record-keeping convenience.

Henry Schein Holiday Cheer program celebrates 10 years
For the 10th consecutive year, Melville, N.Y.-based Henry Schein, Inc. helped to make the holiday wishes of nearly 800 children and their families come true with its Holiday Cheer program. Team Schein Members partnered with social service agencies to ensure that the holiday season was brighter for less fortunate families in several local communities where the company has operations. Team Schein Members sponsored individual children and purchased gifts from their "wish lists" including clothing, toys, games and more. During special events hosted by Henry Schein, Team Schein Members had the pleasure of meeting the children and their families and presenting them with their gifts, along with holiday food baskets.

Midmark appoints Miller to dental sales rep
Versailles, Ohio-based Midmark Corp. appointed Chad Miller as dental sales representative for Indiana, Kentucky and Western Ohio. In this position, Miller will be primarily responsible for driving sales opportunities within his region for Midmark’s dental product line, including dental chairs, delivery units, casework, sterilizers, lighting, seating, vacuums and air compressors. He will report directly to Vince Noone, central region sales manager, dental products. Miller has spent the last seven years as a dental equipment specialist, working closely with branch territory representatives to grow sales and provide clinical support. Miller has an extensive sales background, starting as a customer service specialist and working his way up to sales manager with one of the country’s leading appliance and electronics retailers.

Patterson acquires Dolphin Imaging Systems
St. Paul, Minn.-based Patterson Dental Supply acquired Dolphin Imaging Systems, LLC, and Dolphin Practice Management, LLC, providers of 3D imaging and practice management software for specialized dental practitioners, including orthodontists, oral maxillofacial surgeons and dental radiologists. Terms of the all-cash transaction were not disclosed. Dolphin’s imaging software maximizes the benefits of cone beam and other digital photography and radiography systems by enabling practitioners to electronically capture, manipulate and analyze imaging records; perform diagnosis and advanced 2D and 3D visualization; and graphically simulate treatment outcomes.

NDC appoints Fleming to dental sales rep
Nashville, Tenn.-based National Distribution & Contracting, Inc. (NDC) appointed Ryan Fleming to dental sales and marketing representative. In this role, Fleming will provide support to the NDC dental distributors, including the 26 members of the American Dental Cooperative (ADC) and the 22 members of United Dental Dealers (UDD). Fleming will also be responsible for marketing NDC’s private label dental products that are sold under the Quala and Pro Advantage brands. Fleming has experience with event coordination and program development. His most recent position was with the non-profit organization, Special Olympics Georgia.

Fleming will report to Lori Paulson, vice president of marketing and dental programs, who comments: "Ryan will conduct business reviews to identify and develop growth opportunities with member distributors. His demonstrated capabilities in event coordination will be an asset as we hold NDC’s first combined Dental and Medical International Exhibition in June 2009."

Tom Skar - Field sales consultant. Skar will represent Henry Schein Dental at its Eagan, Minn., center. He previously worked in sales at another dental company for 11 years. Skar received a B.S. in accounting from St. Thomas University.

Patrick Streicher - Field sales consultant. Streicher will represent Henry Schein Dental at its Milwaukee, Wis., center. Streicher has 27 years of dental experience, including eight years with Sullivan Dental. He attended the U.S. Navy A-School and C-School.

Corey Spencer - CAD/CAM specialist. Spencer will represent Henry Schein Dental at its Boston, Mass., center. Before joining the company, he was a key accounts manager and a senior client specialist at other dental companies. He received a B.A. in business administration from Merrimack College.

Cynthia Schorle - Field sales consultant. Schorle will represent Henry Schein Dental at its Oakland, Calif., center. She was an account executive at another dental company for 24 years before joining Henry Schein. Schorle was director of motivational business retreats and a top sales award winner.

Briana Obranovich - CAD/CAM specialist. Obranovich will represent Henry Schein Dental at its West Palm Beach, Fla., center. She previously worked at another dental company for seven years. Obranovich received an MBA in organizational management from the University of Phoenix. She received bachelor degrees in business and marketing from Nova Southeastern University.

Chris Niquette - CAD/CAM specialist. Niquette will represent Henry Schein Dental at its Atlanta, Ga. center. Before joining Henry Schein, Niquette worked at two other companies as a key account manager and distribution manager. He was also the franchise owner of a dental lab. Niquette joins Henry Schein with 17 years of dental experience. He received a B.A. from Elon College.

Adam R. Cunningham - Field sales consultant. Cunningham will represent Henry Schein Dental at its Denver, Colo., center. He was a territory representative at another dental company for two years. He received a B.A. in communications and a B.S. in environmental science from Purdue University.

Eric Rattelade - Field sales consultant. Rattelade will represent Henry Schein Dental at its Orange County, Calif., center. Prior to joining Henry Schein, he was a sales representative at another dental company for five years. He received a B.A. in economics from East Carolina University.

Mark Bollmann - Field sales consultant. Bollmann will represent Henry Schein Dental at its Northern Michigan center. He joins Henry Schein with 13 years of dental experience and worked in territory sales for eight years at another dental company. Bollmann received a B.S. from Ferris State University.
