Burkhart associates attend IDS, holds basic training
Over 100 Burkhart associates attended the International Dental Symposium in Cologne, Germany. "We place a high value on growing our people’s knowledge about how they can help their clients succeed’ said Lori Isbell, President of Burkhart, a Tacoma, Wash.-based distributor. "The IDS is one of the most powerful dental learning environments for anyone from our industry to experience and I am confident that those associates who were able to attend have gained greater insight about the future of dentistry and how they can better serve their clients."

With over 1,750 exhibits, Burkhart associates learned first hand about many new dental technologies that would be coming to the United States over the next couple of years. They were able to see the similarities as well as the differences in dentistry throughout the world. In addition to evening dinners and parties along the Rhine, associates had the opportunity to visit many of the historical sites that Germany has to offer. Some chose to extend their stay and were able to visit other parts of Europe.

Also in March, Burkhart held basic training from March 9 through March 27 at its training facility in Tacoma, Wash, covering equipment and repair, among other topics.

Aribex’ NOMAD handheld X-ray device approved in Maryland for dental use
Aribex Inc. received dental and veterinary approval for its NOMAD handheld X-ray device in the state of Maryland. The Maryland Department of the Environment, Radiological Health Program has approved the operation of handheld X-ray devices for use in nursing homes, hospitals, home health care situations, and with special needs patients or sedated patients effective April 1, 2009. Because of its extreme portability, the NOMAD has helped provide the opportunity for quality oral health care to thousands of individuals around the world. Certain specific protocols must be followed as conditions for registering each device with the state. Handheld X-ray units are prohibited in conventional dental offices or for school screenings. Permanent, mounted non-removable shields must be affixed to devices, preventing operator exposure to scatter radiation. Also, only those persons licensed with the state of Maryland are allowed to operate the devices. Shofu BeautiBondTM
Shofu® recently introduced BeautiBondTM, a seventh-generation bonding agent with an exclusive chemistry, as the newest addition to its family of restorative materials. BeautiBond’s unique dual adhesive monomers work independently to produce equal bond strengths to both enamel and dentin, and is available in convenient unit doses for easy, one-step, one-coat application. With a low film thickness of only 5 microns, the light-cure, self-etching adhesive is ideal for a wide range of applications. BeautiBond’s stable, unit dose delivery is fast and easy to use, for excellent chairside handling. A single application requires just 30 seconds for a durable, reliable bond. High bond strength is achieved due to BeautiBond’s HEMA-free composition, resulting in virtually no gingival blanching, which is normally caused by the combination of HEMA and the acid monomer. The light-cure adhesive has a low film thickness of less than 5 microns for better adaptation of restorative materials and is ideal for highly aesthetic and minimally invasive restorations. With excellent biocompatibility and bonding durability, BeautiBond is an all-in-one adhesive that enables etching, priming and bonding in one simple step.
