Community Driven
Perhaps without giving it much thought, we all are involved in the communities in which we live. It doesn’t matter whether it is a big city, suburb or a small town. We are involved in the places we live in various ways. We spend our money there, support local businesses and invest in making it a better place to live. We do so because it is "our" community and we all have vested interests in it.
The same is true in our professional lives. Although the dental distribution sales community is more spread out geographically, we share the same sense of belonging to this professional community as we do to our personal one. Peer to peer interaction is crucial for development. We all share the need to relate, interact, and discuss ideas about what we do professionally. It is how we get better.
The stakeholders here are the makers, sellers, and users of a wide range of dental products. They make up the community. It was our aim in creating First Impressions to provide a magazine that could serve as a communication vehicle for keeping this community "in touch." Each stakeholder makes investments in themselves and in the total community so as to make it a better and more prosperous place to work. In that spirit, you will find this issue a voice from each of these stakeholders.
We introduce our Editorial Advisory Board, which is comprised of leaders from a cross section of dental distribution companies, along with several dentists whose role is to provide us insight and direction on what issues are important to the industry.
We will be adding several more advisors prior to our next issue.
Our cover story is all about what dentists want from their reps. Is it all about price or products? Find out what your customers say are keys for you to succeed.
In addition, we unveil several new columns - one from the DTA which will keep you aware of the industry as it relates to the big picture, and one from Nancy Andrews, an industry expert on infection control issues.
We look forward to hearing from you, our readers, for input on the issues that confront you and your customers every day. It will keep us on track in trying to improve our community!
