Crosstex acquires TWIST
Crosstex International announced its acquisition of TWIST- the revolutionary prophy angle that eliminates spatter and heat.
"TWIST is the perfect addition to our Crosstex brand model - innovative, high-quality, disposable and manufactured in the USA," said Andrew Whitehead, VP of Sales and Marketing. "The popular TWIST prophy angle will now be available exclusively through the Crosstex network of distributors, complementing the full line of Crosstex Patient’s Choice products that include Sparkle and Sparkle Free Prophy Pastes, Zap Fluoride Gels, Foams and Trays as well as GumNumb Topical Anesthetics."
The TWIST prophy angle is the first and only disposable 90º reciprocating, back and forth prophy angle that completely eliminates the spatter of prophy paste, saliva, blood and other potentially infectious matter. TWIST also eliminates frictional heat. TWIST’s gentle but firm oscillating motion allows one to maintain continuous contact and pressure between prophy cup and tooth surface at all times. No dabbing or dotting on and off the tooth surface is necessary and TWIST is effective and safe for use on gingival margins and exposed dentin. The result is a cleaner, safer, faster and more comfortable chair-side experience for both patient and healthcare professional. TWIST is also latex-free.
Midmark Track Light Monitor
Midmark Corp. announced its new Track Light Monitor for the dental industry. This new product combines the best in dental lighting with unparalleled monitor positioning, enabling dental professionals to enhance the patient experience while improving efficiency and case acceptance. Uncompromised positioning is achieved through a two-trolley design, allowing independent movement of the light and monitor. The counterbalanced flex arm permits height and side-to-side adjustability for optimal patient viewing while supine or upright. Effortless tilt and swivel are made possible with the balanced monitor mount, further optimizing monitor placement for education and co-diagnoses of intra-oral camera images, digital X-ray, practice management and patient education software. The optional 17-inch dental grade monitor offers a quality picture with 16.7 million colors and 1280 x 1024 resolution. Sealed display, control buttons and speakers withstand the use of disinfectants. The fully integrated converter seamlessly consolidates inputs from TV, DVD and PC. BIOLASE launches 810 Model of ezlase soft tissue diode
BIOLASE Technology, Inc. launched its new "810 Model" of the ezlase soft tissue diode dental laser. Both the 810 and 940nm versions of the ezlase diode laser utilize the Company’s innovative ComfortPulse pulse technology, which in clinical use by experienced diode laser users has demonstrated greater patient comfort. Darby Dental Supply acquires Becker-Parkin Telesales Operation
Darby Dental Supply, LLC, an all-telesales distributor of dental merchandise, agreed to acquire the telesales operation of New York City-based Becker-Parkin Dental Supplies and Equipment.
Under the terms of the agreement, all Becker-Parkin telesales accounts will become Darby customers and the 60-person Becker-Parkin telesales team will be offered full-time positions at Darby telesales branches in Jericho, N.Y.; Tampa, Fla.; Pompano Beach, Fla.; Phoenix, Ariz.; Memphis, Tenn. and East Lansing, Mich. Darby will retain Becker-Parkin’s telesales branch offices in Akron, Ohio and De Pere, Wis., to provide improved personalized service in the Midwest and across multiple time zones.
DENTSPLY International completes acquisition of Sultan Healthcare, Inc.
DENTSPLY International Inc. announced the acquisition of the assets of Sultan Healthcare, Inc., that was previously announced on June 22, 2007, has been completed. It is expected that this acquisition will add $45 to $50 million on an annualized basis to DENTSPLY’s sales. With this acquisition, DENTSPLY will expand its product offerings by entering important new categories such as infection control products. The combination is expected to expand global market access and increase opportunities for growth of the Sultan product line.
Midmark "WANTED Innovation, NOT Imitation" promotion announced
Versailles, Ohio-based Midmark Corp. has announced its newest dental promotion called the "WANTED Innovation, Not Imitation" promotion. The promotion runs from July 15, 2007 through Oct. 15, 2007, offering a free Ultraleather upgrade to customers purchasing dental chairs and additional incentives with the purchase of complete operatory packages.
Under the terms of this promotion, with the purchase of a Midmark UltraTrim or UltraComfort Dental Chair, the end-user will receive a free Ultraleather upgrade valued at $570. Or, with the purchase of a complete Midmark Operatory Package (chair, unit and light), the end-user will receive a free Ultraleather upgrade for the chair, plus a free dentist stool (part number 154059) in Ultraleather, all at the time of order, for a total value of $1,375. When three operatory packages are purchased, the end-user will receive the same incentives for each purchase along with one free operatory light, a total value of $7,760.

American Dental Partners announces separate affiliations with Sacramento Oral Surgery and Westlake Surgical Associates
Wakefield, Mass.-based American Dental Partners, Inc., has completed affiliations with Sacramento Oral Surgery (SOS) and Westlake Surgical Associates. In both affiliations, the company acquired certain non-clinical assets and entered into 40-year service agreements with the dental groups.
Sacramento Oral Surgery was founded in 1990 and is an oral surgery group with seven oral surgeons and four facilities located in greater Sacramento, Calif. SOS generates approximately $7 million in patient revenue annually. "We are excited and honored that the owner doctors of SOS have elected to partner with us," said Gregory A. Serrao, Chief Executive Officer of American Dental Partners, Inc. "SOS is a clinically excellent group practice that has been quite successful. They have a strong presence in a high growth market."
Westlake Surgical is a one location oral surgery practice in Austin, Texas. As part of the transaction, Westlake Surgical and Longhorn Dental Associates, the company’s existing affiliate in Texas, contributed their oral surgery practices into the newly formed Texas Oral Maxillofacial Surgical Associates (TOMSA). As a result, TOMSA will employ three oral surgeons, with three locations, generating $3 million in patient revenue annually. [FI]
